In case you haven’t heard the news, Jacqui has finished writing her books and they are currently in the hands of the editors.
Extroverted, gregarious and outgoing, Jacqui Chaplin was first diagnosed with depression in her late twenties. Two decades later, during a third major depressive episode, a different diagnosis was laid bare. Jacqui was diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder Type II. Her books, Disclosure and Black Dogs, Roller Coasters & Pink Elephants are designed to build understanding of the lived experience of mental illness. They also serve to help others out of the black hole of despair that can accompany mental illness and realise there is hope. #thereishope
Disclosure and its companion guide, Black Dogs, Roller Coasters & Pink Elephants reveals Jacqui’s rollercoaster rides and black dog moments. She strongly believes that the more people who are willing and able to talk openly and comfortably about their lived experience with a mental illness, the better. The book introduces some of the practicalities of mind health matters and the ‘pink elephant’ research-based resilience strategies that Jacqui uses and offers so others can use them also to maintain better mind health.
